How One-Call Works in Idaho
Idaho is the state where "call 811" is genuinely not enough information: three separate notification centers divide the map. Digline covers most counties; North Idaho 811 serves Benewah and Shoshone; Dig Safe North Idaho 811 serves Bonner, Boundary, and Kootenai. A linear build crossing county lines can owe tickets to two centers — DOPL's damage-prevention board publishes the authoritative center map.
The mechanics: at least two business days' notice (no more than ten), white-line the dig area, wait for marks, hand-dig within 24 inches of them, and treat tickets as valid roughly 28 days. Idaho's updated statute also puts teeth on the utility side — on an emergency notice, facility owners must contact the excavator within one hour and be on site within two.
